I just spontaneously created a new track over the past weekend, called Doikayt. Doikayt, the Yiddish word for “hereness,” is a Bundist concept embracing diasporism. I played my new kalimba on the track, as well as the cajón, trumpet, bass, and guitar. It was a blast creating. It was one of those tunes where I experienced the flow state, and worked on it for over 12 hours in one session.
I created the track art with the concept of rootedness in mind. The art features a tree with exposed roots, an idea that I felt aligns with the Bundist concept of Doikayt.
