Bio
Cinematic trumpet-driven instrumentals rooted in diasporic identity and folk traditions
Gavriel Micah is a Denver-based trumpeter, composer, and arranger. His music is rooted in jazz but draws on folk traditions, lyrical storytelling, and a strong sense of melody.
Whether he's writing original music or reimagining traditional repertoire, he favors expressive improvisation, memorable melodies, and thoughtful arrangement over technical display. His music moves between intimate ballads, hard-bop energy, and tradition-inspired pieces, and the trumpet leads throughout.
Recent releases include the Between the Letters EP and the singles Doikayt and The Long Path. His forthcoming album, Songs I Found, explores traditional klezmer melodies through the language of jazz alongside original compositions that grew naturally from living with the music.
When he isn’t performing or recording, Micah works as a software developer and spatial epidemiologist. That analytical mindset carries into his music, where careful structure and craftsmanship support expressive performance.
