Two Worlds is out August 1, 2025 on all streaming platforms. It runs 2:48 and there are no vocals.
The trumpet moves between Western major scales and Middle Eastern modes, mostly Levantine, sometimes inside the same phrase. Underneath there's a bass ostinato and a hand drum holding the pulse, and a guitar solo with some effects on it.
I started it because I wanted to hear what those two sets of scales would do next to each other. There wasn't a plan past that.
I'm Jewish, and a lot of what I write leans on diaspora music. This tune is two musical languages in the same room.
